# ListenDock

> ListenDock turns any document into audio you can listen to. Upload a PDF, Word file, eBook, text or Markdown file — or just paste a web link or YouTube video — and ListenDock reads it aloud with natural AI voices, split into short, easy-to-follow episodes you can play while driving, walking, or resting your eyes. **The text-to-speech is free**, and if you prefer, you can **bring your own AI key** so all generation runs on your own account. ## What ListenDock is

ListenDock is a "documents to audio" service. You give it something to read, and it gives you back audio.

It can do two things with every document:

- **Listen to the original** — hear the document read aloud, as close to the original text as possible.
- **Teacher mode** — hear an easy explanation of the same content, as if a good teacher were walking you through it. Great for dense research papers, reports, and books.

Everything is broken into bite-sized episodes (usually one per chapter), so a long PDF turns into a small podcast you can work through a piece at a time.

## Free text-to-speech

The text-to-speech is free. Natural AI voices read your documents aloud at no cost — you only spend credits on processing the document, never on the narration itself. Premium, studio-quality voices are available as an optional upgrade.

## Bring your own AI key (BYOK)

You can connect your own AI key instead of using platform credits. It's a one-time $10 unlock. After that, all audio and document generation runs through your own account, billed by your provider directly — no platform credits needed. This is fully optional: ListenDock works out of the box without it.

## Main features

- **Many input formats** — PDF, DOCX (Word), EPUB (eBooks), TXT, and Markdown files, plus any web page, news article, or blog post by URL, and YouTube videos.
- **YouTube audio summaries** — paste a YouTube link and ListenDock turns the video into a short audio summary of the key ideas, or reads the full transcript aloud, in the language you choose.
- **Free text-to-speech** — natural AI voices read your documents at no cost (see above).
- **Bring your own key** — optionally use your own AI key with a one-time $10 unlock (see above).
- **Any language** — listen in the language you choose, no matter what language the document is written in.
- **Ask while you listen** — tap "Ask" to chat with AI about the document and get explanations on demand, without losing your place.
- **AI audio stories** — describe a story in a sentence and ListenDock writes and narrates it for you.
- **Listen anywhere** — a web player plus native iPhone and Android apps, so you can start on one device and continue on another.
